Leakproof Mininert fluoropolymer resin valves for vials are a convenient way to vent or access a sample in a screw-top vial. Simple pushbutton action: push green to open, push red to close. A superior alternative to septa when you wish to get to higher internal pressures (be careful!) or limit sample exposure to materials. When this valve is used with a glass vial, only the fluoropolymer resin and the glass come in contact with your sample. A Mininert septum installing tool, available elsewhere, allows quick replacement of an internal septum after it is pierced by a syringe needle (20 gauge).

This size fits vials or other threaded items with a 18 mm neck, replacing a 400 cap (1-turn threads). Photos show a valve atop a vial with a 18-400 finish: a 21x70mm 4 dram (16 mL) glass vial (for example, Fisher 03-339-25E). The vial is not included in the item for sale.
