Antique/Vintage Brass Fireplace Set of 5-Piece Tools (Poker, Shovel, Tongs, Brush Inc Stand)

Condition is Vintage, Used, Not new, An almost complete set, In good used condition

Here is a five piece fireplace, brass companion set comprising of a poker, shovel, tongs, brush and stand. Part of a home clear out and in-need of a new home.

The tongs, shovel, brush and poker which is all made of sold brass. The top of the handle and stand holder, have a hook and a leaf design pattern, the handle and the holders of the tongs, brush, shovel and poker is also sold brass. The base of the stand is heavy with the plate attached to what looks like cast brass. The underside of the base is hollow, possible where the cast once was. The shaft that connects the top and bottom of the stand is either made from hollow brass tube or something like copper. Quite a unique design as the stand has as decorative, patterned square base as opposed to a round one which is the standard for many companions sets.

As far as I can tell, the fireplace companion is a real set designed to be used to tend fires but looking at the condition (brushes bristles, tongs, etc), this fireplace set was primarily used for decorative purposes.

Not entirely sure of the age. It has been in the attic for at least forty years and it wasn't new then. Roughly based on similar ones (I could not find an exact match), I would guestimate that this is somewhere between 60 to 80 years old, possibly even older. As mentioned, this is only my Best Guess.

I have attempted to polish/clean this using Brasso and I made it look a little brighter but it does need a good polish. Apart from some slight wear and tear, the physical condition of the fireplace set overall is excellent. Please see the advert pictures.
