---Sizing recommendations
The optimal length of a cane is a very individual parameter. It depends not only on your height but also on the length of your arms, posture, walking style, and the thickness of your shoe soles.
We typically send the standard 36-inch length walking cane. If needed, you can easily shorten the wooden shaft yourself with any saw. The rubber tip included will hide any cutting marks. A good tip is to use paint tape to protect the wood from splitting while cutting the shaft (wind the tape around the shaft above the cut-off point).
If you’d like us to cut your cane before shipping, please try to determine the optimal length very accurately using a standard method you can find on Google, or refer to the picture below. Remember to consider the thickness of your shoe soles!
It’s easy to make it shorter, but very hard to make it longer again.

Storage and care recommendations
We do not recommend storing the cane near heating appliances or in direct hot sun. Excessive drying can make the wooden parts more brittle, potentially leading to cracks under high load.
Each GC-Artis walking cane has a professional varnish coating that protects against common atmospheric conditions like light rain or short-term wetting with non-aggressive liquids. However, prolonged exposure to increased moisture or immersion in water can deform the wooden parts. Contact with aggressive chemical liquids and solutions can destroy the varnish coating.
We recommend cleaning your cane with warm water and a soap solution or any certified cleaning agent for wooden goods and furniture. After cleaning, wipe it with a dry cloth. We also recommend polishing the cane’s surface once a year to restore the lacquer coating's gloss and remove oxidation plaque from metal parts and minor scratches. Use professional polishing products.
