Purchased from local residents of Mindimbit Village, on the Sepik River, in 1984.

This vintage carved ancestral figure is a stunning piece of art from the Sepik River Tribes of Papua Guinea headhunters. The intricate wood statue was carved from a single piece of hard wood, and is wearing a Ceremonial Helmet and Skirt, seated. The figure is a tribal chief, wearing breast plate and white and gray ornamentation. The figure is 23 3/4" tall and has arm and leg bracelets or tattoos.

It is an original tribal art piece from the Pacific Islands & Oceania culture. This piece is perfect for any ethnographic or antique collector looking for a unique and original piece to add to their collection. The stunning statue is a unique addition to any collection.

There is a crack on the back, which is clearly visible in the photos.
