The Krokbragd coverlets were composed of  rows of small patterns running from salvage to selvage.  Crosses, diamonds and X's were all variations that could be elongate, shortened or cut in half. These coverlets were made from a soft of two ply wool and a warm of linen, hemp or tightly spun wool.  More information can be acquired from a fantastic book by Katherine Larson  "The woven coverlets of Norway".
Two of these were often woven and sewn together for a full bed coverlet.
This coverlet has beautiful colors and is presumed from the 19th century and brought over from Norway by immigrants.
It has been in my collection for the last 25 years.
It is a remarkable loomed piece with wonderful colors.
**** The condition is excellent.  There is a small mend made many years ago.... shown in a photo.  There are loose threads on the edges that I assume are part of the weaving process.
****For its age it is in excellent condition. No fading of its beautiful colors.    A  piece of that age that was obviously used,  it is quite beautiful!  It is a heavy piece.
It is folded over at the top and bottom so a rod can be threaded in to hang.  I had in hanging with a  group of Textile pieces from Norway and Sweden, it complimented very well and went beautifully with the painted and carved folk art I collect.
----Krokbragd style coverlets were made in most of the areas of Norway except the northern most.
*****You may notice some shading in the photos...those are not stains or discoloration, it is just the coverlet not laying flat agains the wall so it creates some shadowing in the photo.
*I have taken a photo of the backside folded over the front to show the weaving style.
*The last photos are of the backside of the coverlet,
