Dr. Héder János (born October 20, 1933, in Budapest) is a former Hungarian Olympic gymnast and sports figure, widely regarded for his achievements in gymnastics during the mid-20th century. He represented Hungary in the 1950s and 1960s, earning several prestigious titles in both national and international competitions.
Héder made a significant mark at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, where he won a bronze medal in the team gymnastics event. Over the years, he became known for his technical skills, consistency, and sportsmanship. Beyond his Olympic success, Héder also secured several medals in European and World Championships, establishing himself as one of Hungary’s top gymnasts.
After retiring from competition, Dr. Héder continued to contribute to the sports community. He later pursued a career in sports medicine and became a respected academic, earning a doctorate in the field. His post-competitive career involved teaching and mentoring future generations of gymnasts, as well as working in the field of sports science.
Dr. Héder János's contributions to Hungarian gymnastics and sports continue to be celebrated, and his legacy is firmly established in the country’s sporting history.
