Vintage Chinese Bamboo Chicken Hen On Nest Egg Basket Shanghai Crafts Style 6.5"
This adorable hand-woven chicken shaped storage basket will make a wonderful addition to your collection. It features a woven form of what appears to be bamboo or an unknown reed in dark & light tones with a carved beak & comb, what looks like button eyes and a bamboo tail. ITEM DETAILS:
- Approximate weight is 3.5 ozs
- Measures approximately 6" x 6.25" x 6.5" tall
- Condition: In vintage pre-owned handmade used condition with wear including some gunk/grime/staining on the interior bottom of the basket bowl form, shedding fibers, loose fibers, broken pieces of weaving sticking out in different directions, scratches, stains, there is visible glue around the base of the tail/beak/comb, there is some scratching/chipping on the edge of the tail, scratches on the comb, scuffed black paint in the middle of the eye, scratches on the plastic eyes, dust/dirt settled into the basket weave crevices, flaking, patina, tarnish, dents, dings, oxidation, dirt, dust, grime, unevenly woven patterns/shapes/forms, sharp pieces of wood, cracks, shedding, loose fibers/lent, stains, fading, dulling, darkening, discoloring and overall wear from age and handling. - Age/era: Unknown, I am guessing that it was made sometime between the 1970s-1990s but I cannot guarantee
- Origin: Unknown, possibly China but I cannot guarantee
- Marks: Unmarked as far as I can tell but it is in the style of Shanghai Handicrafts however I do not know what company made it
- Materials: Unknown woven natural materials such as bamboo or a similar woody reed, unknown carved wood, plastic, metal wire, unknown finishes, unknown paint
