I hand dyed a denim fabric, lined it with a paper bag and sewing pattern tissue to make the cover of this journal. I added a frame made from the fabric scraps and a metal butterfly to the front.
The pages are a delicious mix of modern and vintage papers that I have painted with blue, ochre and metallic bronze.
I added hand and machine stitching to some of the pages as well as collage accents throughout and there are many interactive elements in this journal.
Vintage ephemera tucked into many of the pages include a handwritten recipe, a gift list, a receipt, and a cyanotype photo of a goat.
Other techniques I used in creating this journal include hand dyeing papers, weaving paper strips, gel plate image transfers, stamping and stenciling.
The journal has 4 signatures and 80 pages and measures about 8" x 6" x 2" with lots of space for you to write and add your own artwork and mementos.
