Overall Good condition hardcover copy of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Ernest Hemingway. 1st Edition, 1st Printing with "A" on the copyright page! Includes 1st Issue dust jacket with $2.95 price on flap and no photographer's credit on back! Published 1940 by Charles Scribner's Sons, NY. Binding is sound and pages are unmarked, with the exception of toning to endpapers. Boards are clean and square with faint toning to spine. 1st Issue dust jacket is in Acceptable condition with a ~4" closed tear to front hinge, moderate chipping to corners and spine ends, minor creasing to head and fore edges, moderate rubbing to extremities, small rectangular spot of toning to back, and minor shelf wear. DJ is now protected in a clear, removable archival sleeve. Please see photos for condition detail.

Note: Though Charles Scribner's Sons' 1st Printings sometimes also have the publisher's seal on copyright page, experts are unsure if seal should appear on 1st Printing of For Whom the Bell Tolls, as no confirmed copies have ever been presented with both "A" and the seal.
