In 1984, in only his 2nd season in baseball, Don Mattingly batted .343 and won the AL Batting Title.  In 1984, Mattingly also won the AL HITs Title (207) and Doubles Title (44).


Don Mattingly was one of the greatest players of his era as he could hit for power/slugging, for average and flash serious leather on defense as Mattingly won 9 Gold Gloves!


However, the one thing Mattingly could not do was run! In 1983, his rookie season, Mattingly attempted zero stolen bases! In fact, during his 14-year, 1,785-game career, Mattingly only had 14 career stolen bases in only 22 career attempts. That's an average of exactly one stolen base per year.
