These fossils are 100% genuine Opalised Cleoniceras Ammonites. Discovered in the Mahajanga jungle in Madagascar, they are from the Lower Albian stage of the Cretaceous era about 110 million years ago.
Cleoniceras is a well-known genus of ammonite distinguished by its finely ribbed, tightly coiled shell, which has a near-perfect logarithmic spiral reflective of the Fibonacci sequence found across nature.
These marine cephalopods thrived in warm, shallow, silica-rich seas, where the organic material was replaced by the surrounding minerals to become these remarkable ammonite fossils that are known for their distinctive opalised mother of pearl like finish.
You will receive 1 fossil that will be randomly selected and will be similar to the fossils pictured. Each fossil is approximately 50mm long, 50mm wide and 20mm thick.
