These stunning 120-million-year-old Opalised Cleoniceras
Ammonite fossils are from the Lower Albian stage of the Cretaceous
era and were found in Madagascar. Cleoniceras is a well-known genus
of ammonite distinguished by its finely ribbed, tightly coiled shell and the
notable appearance of its opalised mother of pearl like finish when
polished. These marine cephalopods thrived in warm, shallow,
silica-rich seas, where the organic material was replaced by the surrounding minerals
to become these lovely ammonite fossils that are known for their distinctive
shiny appearance.
You will receive 1 fossil that will be randomly selected and will be similar to the fossils pictured. Each fossil is approximately 650mm long, 50mm wide and 20mm thick.
The fossil is presented in a lovely Kraft cardboard display box, which is 92 x 92 x 26mm, for display purposes and to keep it safe - it also contains an information label describing the contents.
