This print is from the Rajasthani school, Bundi. c. AD 1760.
This print shows Krishna with his friends returning with their cows in the evening after their daylong grazing. Radha and her friends are in their balcony looking on. The clouds seem to be dark and heavy and it could rain any minute.
Krishna and Radha seem to be in conversation and everyone hangs onto their words. One interesting thing about this painting is that even the three main gods are seen in the distance witnessing this. Shiva the bluish one with the tiger skin, Narada with his veena, Brahma with the four faces and covered by leaves Vishnu. Krishna is seen as a avatar of Lord Vishnu, but this painting shows that even when he is born on earth as Krishna he is still there as Vishnu.
