Thomas Moran was an American painter born in 1837 in Bolton, England. He is best known for his paintings of the American West during the 19th century. Moran immigrated to the United States with his family in 1844, settling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He began his career as a wood engraver and later turned his attention to painting. He gained a reputation for his vivid and dramatic depictions of the American West, which captured the beauty and grandeur of the region’s landscapes. Moran was a member of the Hudson River School, a group of artists who were inspired by the natural beauty of the American landscape. He was particularly interested in capturing the drama and majesty of the western landscape, and his paintings often featured sweeping vistas, towering mountains, and vibrant sunsets.

Moran’s work was highly regarded in his time, and he received numerous awards and accolades for his paintings. Fine Art Paper is a higher quality cotton rag paper more like watercolor paper. The ink will soak in more and give a lighter slightly textured appearance. Prices shown are printed full bleed (No white border) but can be printed with a 2” printed border on request at additional cost. Both papers ship rolled in a tube.

Framed Canvas is a stretched canvas with black sides mounted inside a narrow black float frame made from real wood. It is fixed from the back so there is a narrow gap between the edge of the canvas and the frame making the canvas appear to float.
