A genuine Commander's full dress uniform tailcoat for the Royal Navy, circa WW1 or interwar period
The tail coat is in overall very good condition and quite presentable. It's made of doeskin wool cloth and gold bullion braiding. There is no fading or moth holes I can see. The gold bullion laces still retain reasonable gloss after nearly 100 years. There are odd loose stitching - all very minor
The torso lining was partially removed at some stage. This can be re-done but the coat displays perfectly and can still be worn as is. Lining is intact inside sleeves and tail.
There are coloured distinction cloth between cuff rank strips, denoting the naval engineer branch? anyway, a relatively uncommon feature that was discontinued from 1955
