This vintage necklace called Rouelle, is an ancient symbol for the sun, first appearing in the Bronze Age around 1000 B.C. This symbol reappeared in the first century, made of gold, silver or bronze and sometimes resembling a chariot wheel. Found in 5th-7th  Southeastern France, often suspended on a chain or lanyard as women's jewelry. This reproduction piece was purchased at the gift shop of the Musée de Louvre, Paris, France. It is a unique piece of jewelry and comes with its original wrappings and description in French. The paper packaging is a little worn, but the necklace is in perfect like-new condition.
