Offered for sale is a beautiful antique art glass water set consisting of a pitcher (64 oz.) and (4)- 14 oz. tumblers. The water set is made of a deep emerald green color with silver overlay designs on the exterior with flowers, the glasses having flowers and a boat & flowers with a house/struture. The set has four pinched/concave areas around the bottom portion of each piece, which add to their unique design. The pitcher stands approximately 9" tall while the tumblers stand 5 1/2" tall, and they are not marked. The bottoms have polished pontils. The overall condition of the water set is beautiful. There are no chips or cracks. The water pitcher has a few areas of minor rubbing/loss to the silver overlay, and the glasses have a few areas of silver loss but minimal. The color is very striking, and the clarity of the glass is wonderful with no cloudiness to note. The decorative technique of applying
silver designs to glass was patented by Oscar
Pierre Erand and John Benjamin Round for
Stevens & Wiliams Ltd in Birmingham, England. With that being said, I would guess that is the time period this was made? Please refer to the photos as they are part of the description.
