100% Genuine Large Otodus Obliquus Shark Tooth Fossil 40mm Presentation Box

These are 100% genuine fossilised teeth from the Otodus Obliquus species of shark, which lived in the Eocene period about 56 to 34 million years old. 
 
Otodus was a formidable predator, believed to have reached lengths of up to 30 feet (9 meters), and is an early ancestor to the more famous Megalodon. These sharks had robust jaws and rows of serrated teeth ideal for grasping slippery prey such as fish and other marine animals. Like all sharks, Otodus continuously shed its teeth throughout its lifetime, making teeth the most common fossils recovered from this ancient species.

The teeth were found in the Khouribga phosphate mines located in the Ouled Abdoun Basin of Morocco. This region of land was under the ocean at the time when these sharks were alive but is now in the desert after continental shifts move the area inland.

You will receive one fossil that will be randomly selected and will be similar to the fossils pictured. Each tooth is approximately 40mm long and 35mm wide. The fossil is presented in an elegant black cardboard gift box, which is 78 x 60 x 25mm, for display purposes and to keep it safe - it also contains an information label giving a certified description of the contents.
