Description  This is a very rare edition of the two volume set of The History Of Pendennis, his fortunes and misfortunes, his friends and his greatest enemy by William Makepeace Thackeray, author of Vanity Fair. Published and printed by  E. Thunot And Co. in Paris, 1850. The letter to the public in the preface of the 2nd volume bears the date and place, Kensington, November 26th 1850 and this was printed the same year. The title pages have that date as well. This is a very rare first edition printed in Paris, France. However the entire book is in English. Baudry's European Library 3, Quai Malaquais, Au 1er Etage. A. And W. Galignani And Co. 18, Rue Vivienne. 1850. Very rare edition, for the Pendennis collector and discriminating connoisseur.

Condition  In very nice condition, especially considering its age and rarity. All pages are complete including all title pages, end pages, and half-titles. There is no writing whatsoever in the interior. There is however prolific foxing throughout, as displayed in the photos provided. Three quarter, designed, leather binding is in beautiful condition, with some fraying to cover corners and a bit to edges.
