X-ray Charlie Yankee
X-ray Charlie Yankee
The Bell Model 412 is a twin-engine, 4-rotorblade development of the original Vietnam-era Model 205/UH-1 Huey. First flying in 1979, the Bell 412 achieved certification in 1981. There has been continuous improvements over its production life, primarily to internal systems and instrumentation, with the outward appearance of the helicopter changing very little over its 800-plus production run. The 412 has proved to be an exceptionally versatile utility helicopter and is regularly employed on firefighting, emergency services, police, search and rescue, coast guard, air ambulance, aerial crane and airborne surveillance missions.

VH-XCY, sn 36402, is owned and operated by LifeFlight Australia Pty Ltd and flies as part of their fleet across Queensland.
It was built in 2006 and first placed on the Australian Civil Aircraft Register on 25th September 2012. VH-XCY is shown here as it appeared in mid-2023.

The Artwork
These digital profile illustrations are all created by myself, Graeme Molineux. They are created from scratch using illustration and photo-manipulation software. Each type takes between twenty and one hundred hours to complete. They are not retouched photos, nor are they the product of any kind of CAD or 3D rendering software. They are, effectively, digital paintings. Every Grubby Fingers profile is meticulously researched using my own photos and repair and maintenance manuals, when available. Many reference images are collected and, where feasible, I study an actual prototype. The illustrations are high-resolution and very detailed. Each illustration is a result of hours of painstaking research and attention to references. (My 40,000+ reference photos are available, for non-commercial use, free from my main website: grubby-fingers-aircraft-illustration.com.)
