Remember that in order for the 'The Clue Of The Broken Blade' to qualify as a first edition it must have the following 3 features:
A. 'War time Notice' on the actual face of the title page, about the paper quality and that contents is unabridged because it was printed in 1942 at wartime when they had to compromise on the paper.
B. Gretta orange end papers with the lookout man in the tree, not the brown style end pages or any other color.
C. The cover needs to be brown with a smooth texture and not tan/beige with a thread texture.
This is a genuine 1st edition and pretty scarce.
Note: It could say copyright 1942 and still not be a 1st. It must have at least the 3 features above.
Condition All 218 pages are complete with a beautiful title page and frontispiece WITHOUT ANY STAIING. These are extremely difficult to find like this as the paper was prone to chipping easily. As shown the cover edges and corners have fraying an top of spine cover is lacking small area. Binding is excellent. This book is currently wrapped in protective cellophane as to preserve it in the exact same condition as when the photographs were taken.
