DESCRIPTION:  Here is an early 19th century Paris porcelain chocolate cabinet cup and saucer. To the front of the cup there is a rectangular panel hand painted with a gilt basket full of flowers which are mainly enamelled pink roses, green leaves with red flowers gilt flowers and gilt leaves and having a gilt pattern below the basket. The panel is set in a gilt frame decorated with berries. The back half of the cup is on a blue ground with a gilt trophy on each side and scattered gilt flower sprigs. To the top of the cup there is a band of gilt scrolls, flowers and leaves with a gilt band to the outside base. The inside of the cup is fully gilded about 2 thirds of the way down and has a gilt bulls eye pattern to the base on the inside. It has a high loop handle with a white moulded ball thumb rest and a moulded white flower inside the scrolled loop. The handle is gilded down the back and terminates with a white moulded face with gilt laurel leaves to the head, gilt flowers to each side and gilded to the lower half. The cup stands on three lion paw feet that are gilded to the front. 

The saucer with a gilt trophy to the center in a gilt frame which is surrounded by a blue band with gilt flower sprigs. The border has a gilt scroll, flower and leaf pattern the same as the cup. It has a gilt band to the outer border. The cup is unmarked but the saucer has a mauve painted Paris inscription. It has a dry edge foot rim. Dates to between 1800 to 1820.

SIZE: The cup measures 4 3/4 inches to top of handle and 3 5/8 inches at widest point of diameter. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter.  Weighs 410 g before packing.

CONDITION:  One foot with a small chip and another with a tiny chip. The gilt frame around the basket of flowers has a small scratch. The face to the handle has some kiln dust. Minor gilt ware ware here and there with with the saucer having some small black imperfections to the rim and outside border.
