About the artist

Jane Bessie (or Betty) Knight-Hepburn, who preferred to be called simply Jane Hepburn was the first woman to be awarded the George Medal, together with Dorothy Clarke, for bravery when crossing a minefield to rescue injured airmen in 1940. Jane was a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1956-1962 and exhibited regularly.
