Stone Blade Tribal Artifact from The Brazza River Region of Papua New Guinea -Lot 160E

This Stone Blade artifact is a unique piece from the Brazza River region of Papua New Guinea. This is an extremely hard stone, color varies according to the surrounding of the minerals; the blades are roughly shaped and sharpened. The stones are of great value because of the long and difficult route over which they were traded in earlier times. It its thought that the stone comes from different quarries. The use of these stone axes now is rare since, metal axes have replaced them. It is a valuable addition to any collection and has been well-preserved since its original use. The artifact's provenance is from a private collection, and it was made in Papua New Guinea. It is a great representation of the Pacific Islands culture and is an excellent conversation starter. The blade has not been modified and is in its original form. This collectible is perfect for anyone interested in Pacific Islands culture and is looking for a unique piece to add to their collection.

Provenance: A private collection. Collected it during an expedition made in the early 1970s into the interior of New Guinea along the Brazza River Region.
