Under-Seat Exhaust Design The high-mounted, under-seat muffler configuration requires the removal of the passenger footpegs. Relocating the mufflers from beneath the motorcycle makes this system particularly suitable for racing applications, where space is required for a belly pan capable of containing fluids. On street motorcycles, the under-seat configuration also reduces heat stress around the lower fairings, helping protect body panels from heat damage while reducing the amount of heat radiating towards the rider’s legs.
