Rare Antique (1920) English
Cut Crystal Glass and Sterling Silver
Perfume Bottle
FEATURES
• Lead Crystal Cut Glass
• Sterling Silver Threaded Top
• Hallmarks: "London, 1920, Maker's Mark, .925"
• DISCUSSION: Rare old English cut lead crystal clear glass perfume bottle with a sterling silver threaded collar and screw-on top. Hallmark symbols reveal that this was made in London, in 1920, by Henry Perkins & Sons. This elegant bottle is boldly decorated with Gothic-style geometric precision cuts. The belly cuts form 6-point star designs, each contained by border cuts on all four sides. The shoulder bears a continuous 360-degree pattern of flat rose-petal cuts. It is a very pretty and rare example! Cap is in great shape, save a few dents. We remain at your disposal for any further information.

• CONDITION: Overall excellent antique condition! (See below for details.)
FULL CONDITION REPORT: Bottle: Excellent: no cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, or repairs can be seen or felt on the body. The base has expected shelf-wear restricted to the base rim as the base is originally ground slightly concavely. This grind has allowed the interior of the base to maintain its original condition: highly polished, showing no wear at all. The interior shows no visible residue or staining. There is a mild (pleasant) fragrance that lingers from previous use. Top: There are several dents in the silver top, all but one are to the side. All silver threads (on the collar and cap) are in excellent condition. The cap tightens nicely and the seal appears to be functioning well and as designed. Though my close-up photos clearly show hallmarks, they are only about one millimeter high, so they are not meaningfully readable without a minimum of 10x magnification. We researched and decoded their meanings. Also, you may notice in one photo a jeweler's note inscribed in extremely small lettering scratched into the silver below the hallmarks. For what it may be worth to you, it reads "263 HH/S". We have no idea what that represents. It could be a previous owner's inscription or an appraiser's record. This type of microscopic notation is common in the jewelry, watch and clock world and usually is simply a technician's notation. We've seen this type many times before and we are confident that it has no real significance relative to the piece's history, value or condition. Please review all high-resolution photographs, at full size, in forming your own opinions.
