The Alfa AWUS036ACU is a new low-cost 802.11ac Wi-Fi USB dongle built on the Realtek RTL8812BU chipset. It features two RP-SMA antenna ports, and two detachable dual-band antennas.

AWUS036ACU is capable of receiving and transmitting on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz bands. With 802.11ac standard routers, AWUS036ACU can achieve throughput speeds up to 867 Mbps. This adapter is backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11n networks, but an 802.11ac router is required for the maximum throughput.

Drivers included on CD-ROM

This adapter can connect directly to a USB port. A USB 3.0 port is required for the maximum 867 Mpbs connection speed. Depending on your USB port proximity, this may cover a neighboring port, so you may consider purchasing or using a short 1-ft USB extension cable to free up a port if needed.

Compatibility

It will work with any computer that has an available USB port and Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 10. Kali Linux version 2020.4 now supports packet injection for this adapter.
-USB 3.0 port required for max speed, though is compatible with USB 2.0 ports also at a max speed of 480 mbps.
