Wie Prokofjews Romeo und Julia zum Hit wurde: Andre Previns Einspielung von 1973 auf Vinyl

In den 70er Jahren sorgte der Dirigent Andre Previn vor allem mit dem London Symphony Orchestra für Furore, dem er damals als Principal Conductor vorstand. Noch heute gelten seine damaligen Ballett-Einspielungen als unerreicht. Nach seinen Tschaikowsky-Veröffentlichungen erscheint nun das größte Tanztheater-Meisterwerk von Sergej Prokofjew auf drei edlen 180-g-Vinyl-LPs: Das Ballett Romeo und Julia, das Previn im Jahre 1973, also zum 20. Todestag des Komponisten aufnahm. Seine Interpretation, die den ganzen dramatischen Reichtum der Partitur zu einem gewaltigen sinfonischen Erlebnis macht, legte auch den Grundstein für die Hit-Tauglichkeit einiger Nummern aus dem Ballett: So gehört der Tanz der Ritter mit seinen unverwechselbaren wogenden Klangmassen heute zu den populärsten Klassiktracks des 20. Jahrhunderts.
