Lunch box made of light hinoki wood with craftsmanship!
A favorite lunch box of mountain craftsmen. This bent-wood box is made of hinoki (Japanese cypress), which has been handed down in Naraijuku, Kiso.
The name "mempa" comes from the fact that lumberjacks used to fill their lunch boxes to the brim with rice. Usually, Japanese cedar is used for menpa, but menpa made of hinoki cypress are made only in Kiso, Nagano Prefecture.
