Splendido olio su tavola(36x27senza cornice) di una genio assoluto della pittura paesaggistica e ritrattistica mondiale dell'800 e primi 900, Giovanni Cabella. 
Il Maestro, del quale si contano pochissime opere in circolazione per via della sua recalcitranza alla mondanità ed al commercio, ha dato il suo massimo creativo e tecnico tra la fine dell'800 e l'inizio del 900 quando, da buon Ligure, si dedicò con risultati eccelsi alla pittura marinara(la Marina Militare vedendo alcune sue opere spontanee come questa cercò con tutti i mezzi di convincerlo ad accettare svariate commissioni pittoriche che lo stesso rifiutò). A detta di molti critici d'arte quest'opera, che ritrae la grande nave Ammiraglio di Saint Bon(unità d'avanguardia della Regia Marina, classe Emanuele Filiberto) varata nel 1897 che entrò in servizio nel 1901 e che fu demolita nel 1920 dopo un ventennio di grandi prestazioni belliche,è una delle opere più belle in circolazione dell'Autore. Completa l'opera una cornice coeva in legno dorato intarsiata a mano.

Fu allievo all’ Accademia Ligustica e di F. Peschiera, tramite il quale, probabilmente, entrò in contatto con la nobildonna Teresa Corsi Pallavicino, che lo aiutò a proseguire gli studi a Firenze e a Roma: qui, grazie anche a una pensione della Ligustica, frequentò gli ambienti puristi e realizzò, su commissione della stessa mecenate, Le Tre Marie al sepolcro (1849-51), apprezzato da P. Tenerani. A Genova partecipò alle mostre del 1846 e 1847 e alle Promotrici del 1852 e 1854, con opere religose e di genere. Anche ritrattista, ab-bandonò precocemente la pittura, ritirandosi a vita solitaria.

The Maestro, of whom there are very few works in circulation because of his recalcitrance to worldliness and commerce, gave his creative and technical maximum between the end of the 800 and the beginning of the 900 when, from good Ligure, he dedicated himself with excellent results to the maritime painting (the Navy seeing some of his spontaneous works as this tried with all the means to convince him to accept various pictorial commissions that the same refused). According to many critics of art this work, which portrays the great ship Admiral of Saint Bon (avant-garde unit of the Royal Navy, Emanuele Filiberto class) launched in 1897 which entered service in 1901 and which was demolished in 1920 after a twenty years of great military performance, is one of the most beautiful works in circulation of the author. Complete the work a contemporary frame in gilded wood inlaid by hand.

He was a student at the Accademia Ligustica and F. Peschiera, through which, probably, he came into contact with the noblewoman Teresa Corsi Pallavicino, who helped him to continue his studies in Florence and Rome: here, thanks to a pension of the Ligustica, he attended the purist circles and commissioned, on commission of the same patron, Le Tre Marie to the tomb (1849-51), appreciated by P. Tenerani. In Genoa he took part in the exhibitions of 1846 and 1847 and the Promotrici of 1852 and 1854, with religious and genre works. Even a portraitist, he prematurely banned painting, retiring to a solitary life.

Compléter le travail d'un cadre contemporain en bois doré incrusté à la main.
