From their first hit in 1974 through their heyday in the '80s, Daryl Hall and John Oates' smooth, catchy take on Philly soul brought them enormous commercial success -- including six Number One hits and six Platinum albums.

Hall & Oates' music was remarkably well-constructed and produced; at their best, their songs were filled with strong hooks and melodies that adhered to soul traditions without being a slave to them, incorporating elements of new wave and hard rock. The duo solidified their legendary status in 2014 with their induction into the Rock Hall of Fame and remain the most successful duo of all time. We know Hall & Oates now, but who were they before the big hits?

Brothers in the City is a collection of rare, early recordings of Daryl and John prior to their signing with Atlantic Records and debut LP Whole Oats. All tracks were recorded between 1968 and 1971 in Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios and Cameo-Parkway.
