Vintage Jean Harlow "Born to be Kissed" 1934 Lux Toilet soap giveaway portrait. You would get 1 of 22 movie star portraits when you purchased 3 bars of Lux soap. There was confusion about how many stars were in the set because the envelope that the portraits came into the store in said it contained "33 fascinating portraits". It did contain 33 but included duplicates. Which may explain why some are harder to find that others. There are however 32 known variations of the 22 star portraits. Most of the variations involve the name of the movie on the back of the portrait. The earlier version of some of the stars has the "working title" of the movie and later versions have changed it to the name of the movie as it was released in theaters. The earlier version is usually much harder to find than the later version. That's the case with this Jean Harlow portrait. "Born to be Kissed" was the working title for the movie that became "The Girl from Missouri" on it's release. It is much harder to find.
Jean Harlow died at the very young age of 26 having already risen to movie stardom. Several illnesses and misdiagnosis both probably contributed to her death. At the time of her death her partner was "Thin Man" William Powell.
Very good condition with edge and corner wear.
