Imperial German, Great War, Rare Minty Baden Infantry Officer’s Visor Cap. The Grand Duchy of Baden was almost the same size as the Kingdom of Wurttemberg. This cap appears to have been in service before 1897 as the visor is smaller than caps issued later also the Reich Cockade was mandated in 1897 appears newer than the rest of the cap. It features a wide red trim band measuring 1.25” and a single narrow red piping band encircling the blue cloth top. Both correct Reich & State Cockades are present. Nice Saddle Shape with inside leather sweat band and silk liner. This is a very high quality visor cap in minty condition. It is near impossible to find a Visor Cap without some moth tracking, this cap has some slight tracking on the top & bottom bands. There is also a makers mark on the inside ( see photo’s ). Imperial Germany was a federation of twenty-seven kingdoms, duchies, principalities and "free and imperial cities". By far the largest of these components was Prussia, whose King also bore the title of German emperor.
