Bright Zinc Plating Kit
Zinc plating is the most common corrosion-resistant finish on automotive and mechanical parts. Once plated, parts are passivated — a post-plating process that locks in protection and gives the characteristic silver, blue or gold finish you see on nuts, bolts and brackets. Gateros kits use the same chemistry as industrial plating lines, packaged for workshop use.

Two Finishes, Both Included as Standard
After plating, parts are passivated to lock in corrosion protection and achieve the final finish. Both passivates below are included in every kit. Exposure time controls the exact shade.
Clear / Blue PassivateShort exposure produces a bright silver finish. Longer exposure gives a blue sheen. The most common finish on automotive fasteners. 100ml included (200ml in 10L and Ultimate kits) |
Yellow / Gold PassivateProduces a gold or yellow finish depending on exposure time. Widely used on bolts and brackets where a warmer tone is required. 100ml part A + 50ml part B included (doubled in 10L and Ultimate) |
Surface Preparation Is Included
Every kit includes two cleaning chemicals so you can prepare parts correctly before plating. Clean metal plates better and holds the finish longer.
GP1 Alkaline CleanerRemoves grease, oil and rust preventatives. Use as a soak cleaner or electrolytically to remove rust. Full instructions included. |
Acid PickleRemoves surface oxides and lightly etches the metal to give a clean, active surface ready for plating. A critical step before the tank. |
A precision variable power supply gives you direct, accurate control over voltage and current. The recommended setup for consistent, repeatable results.
When selected, the current controller, blue wire and brown wire are not included as they are not required.
The kit includes a current controller to regulate output. You will need to provide your own DC power source to run the process.
Either option requires distilled or deionised water to make up the electrolyte. This is not included.
