These vintage glossy tiles are brand name American Company.

Tile color is: #46 Buckwheat

These tiles made during the 1950's

The American Tile Co. merged in the late 1950's to form the American Olean Co.


These tiles have self-spacing lugs; little bumps on the edges that separate the tiles for grouting

These tiles are 4-1/4 inches by 4-1/4 inches by 5/16" thickness.

Using my digital calipers tiles measure 4.29" wide on the self-spacing lugs and .30" thick.

Tiles measures 4.26" wide on the square edge.

Imprinted on back of tiles is: American, Made in USA & S-4449 (this number represents the shape of tile)

Any white spots in the pictures are a reflection, these are solid perfect color.
