All linear cuts longer than 6 inches long should be done with a circular blade. The roundness of these blades makes it easier to following a cut-line.
Using your machine with these blades, lightly cut into the material for the entire length of the cut. Now you can progressively make deeper full length cutting passes until you cut all the way through. This is how you do precision cutting with a multi-tool machine.
