RCA YJG42E Reel to Reel Tape Recorder Player:

This vintage reel to reel player lights up when plugged in and the power turned on and low hum can be heard from the fan in the back. Unfortunately I do not have any tape to test the audio capabilities of this machine.

When the play button is pressed about halfway down a motor can be heard turning. If the reel is given a nudge while the play button is pressed down, the reel will spin. ( possibly a loose belt) if the play button, fast forward button, or reverse button is pressed all the way down the power goes out. Upon reading some forums it seems that this is to stop operation without a tape threaded but I am not an expert on reel to reel machines and there could be a different issue. The stop button works in returning play, pause, or fast forward to their off positions. Pressing the record ch1 or ch2 buttons gives transient changes on the respective level meters. Changing the power level changes how much the lever moves. The red channel dials don’t seem to do anything to the level meters. The counter reset works well.

Cosmetically the unit is in fairly good shape overall shape with some scratches and discoloration present.
