Providing extra protection to your tent's sewn-in groundsheet, this additional groundsheet can prove invaluable when camping on ground that may contain unseen, sharp, potentially damaging objects - thorns, stone chippings, etc. While not in itself infallible to sharp objects, this additional groundsheet does offer a first line of protection.

Of course, along with reducing the potential wear and tear to your tent's sewn-in groundsheet, this additional groundsheet also effectively adds a substantial further layer of waterproofing to your tent floor (PU5000mm).

However, it should be said that this lightweight groundsheet will also be extremely suitable for any one person or small two person tent that may benefit from the extra protection it affords.

NOTE: By their very nature, modern lightweight tents have very thin, lightweight fabric floors. And while the hydrostatic head rating of these lightweight fabric floors may provide quite adequate waterproofing, they are far less resistant to puncture from sharp objects and general wear and tear than tents of old which had thick, heavy floors. Even the cleanest, softest looking area of grass may harbour something unseen that could potentially damage your tent floor, so it really can pay to have an extra layer of protection. Personally I always backpack with a bright orange, thick polythene survival bag, which then doubles as a secondary groundsheet when I pitch my tent, but if I did not have that, I would certainly be using an additional lightweight groundsheet.
