You are looking at Reversible Indian Vintage Tribal kantha throw blanket quilts which are hand-sewn with hundreds of running stitches. Kantha is a uniquely quilted texture made from layering colorful vintage Indian cotton fabrics together. These kantha quilt are reversible and can be used from both sides. These quilts come in contrasting vibrant patterns & colors. Perfect for a twin bed, a beach picnic or slung over a favorite chair. They are most commonly used as a throw, light weight quilt blanket, decorating fabric and as coverlets. The kantha quilts are also being used as a raw material in Jackets, Hand Bags and other accessories manufacturing. Since these kantha quilts are made from vintage saris, no two quilts would be same.

As these are vintage blanket quilts made up of old clothes (5-20 Yrs old), so rare stains or slight odour is expected. We think that is part of their charm and its uniqueness. They may have some loose threads, open ends, small spots/stain and small patches (patches from other colourful sarees), which is very rare since each item is handpicked and the above observations should not be considered as defects considering their vintage nature. 

It is a rural tradition in India to recycle used old saris for making quilts/throws. Kantha is still the extremely admired form of embroidery practiced by rural women in India. The Process in which the stitches have been done by hand, makes the quilt eye-catchy.

Vintage Kantha Quilt is made up of 100% Cotton Material. It may have two or three layers of old recycled sarees which is painstaking hand-stitched together with successive thousands of small & delicate fine running Kantha stitches, Hand-Stitched and Crafted softly quilted handmade by Artisans in India. 

Manufacturing Technique: Two recycled sarees in good condition are placed on both sides and small pieces of fabric and even a layer of another sari are placed in between in such a way that its equally spread (Batting/Wadding/Filler) and makes a three layer quilt, sometimes when the sari fabric on both sides are thick enough then we don’t keep any middle stuff. Each Sari fabric has been washed before making the quilts and has not been used in its Kantha Throw form.
