When I was a child more than 40+ years ago my father was in the antique jewelry business. 

From time to time he would come home with different treasures and occasionally he would let me "acquire" them!

This is an antique/vintage Black Onyx ? Octagon Emerald Cut Shaped  ODDFELLOWS Brotherhood Silver Insignia Stone.

It has two drilled holes and you can set diamonds or other stones in a bezel in there. It is a pretty look.

There is a small chip near a hole but when the bezel is there it should be not very noticeable to the eye.

It measures approx. 17 mm x 12.5 mm x 2.5 mm (just under 3/4" x  1/2" x 1/16").
