These old antique prints originate from: "'Histoire Naturelle Générale et Particuliere....", by de Buffon & Dauberton. Nouvelle Edition, Amsterdam J.H. Schneider, 1766. Artists and Engravers: Author: Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon (September 7, 1707 - April 16, 1788). French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Buffon's views influenced the next two generations of naturalists, including Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. The engravers in this work are B. de Bakker, C. Brouwer, O. de Vries, C.F. Fritzsch (1719-c.1772), Reinier Vinkeles (1741-1816), H. Vinkeles, Mittelj, g.s. and Fringham after Jacques de Seve (active 1744-1788), J.N., J. v. Schley and Buvee. These plates are engraved by G.S. and Fritzsch after de Seve.
