You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of the USS Samuel B Roberts, DD 823, the Gearing Class Destroyer which served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1970.
The Roberts, began her long life at the Consolidated Steel Corporation shipyards, at Orange, Texas, on June 27, 1945. She was launched by her namesakes mother, on November 30, 1945 and commissioned into the United States Navy on December 22, 1946, with Pennant number DD 823.
The Roberts served in the Cold War and in Vietnam until she decommissioned in 1970. She was sank as a target, off Puerto Rico in 1971..
