You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of the USS Samuel B Roberts, DD 823, the Gearing Class Destroyer which served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1970.

The Roberts, began her long life at the Consolidated Steel Corporation shipyards, at Orange, Texas, on June 27, 1945. She was launched by her namesakes mother, on November 30, 1945 and commissioned into the United States Navy on December 22, 1946, with Pennant number DD 823.

The Roberts served in the Cold War and in Vietnam until she decommissioned in 1970. She was sank as a target, off Puerto Rico in 1971..

Photograph one is circa 1962 and shows overall waterline starboard quarter view.

Item 2 is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the ships crest, general 1960s characteristics , callsigns, trivia and the ensign she proudly flew.

Item three is an 8 x 10 colour with a short history of the Roberts, complete with a list of her Commanding Officers and a scale drawing.
