VERY OLD ENGRAVING OF A NURSE WITH CHILD

Frans Hals (1582/83-1666) was a Dutch artist and engraver who entered the Haarlem's Saint Luke's Guild in 1610 and specialized in portraiture, but also painted genre scenes and images of the four evangelists. He was continually plagued by financial difficulties and was almost entirely forgotten after his death until the 1860's when the rise of realism and then impressionism brought his work back to fame. The date of this engraving is unknown.
