Frequently asked questions...Are they safe?Our necklaces and bracelets are very safe. They are made specifically for children in the safest way using a traditional design. Every bead is individually knotted and the necklaces and bracelets are run on a firm silky thread with a slight stretch. Plastic screw clasps are used which are widely regarded as being safer than metallic or silk clasps. When should my child start wearing amber?It is best to have your child start wearing their amber from a young age so that they become used to the feel and don't have the urge to tug or bite on them; from as early as 36 months old (by Australia law we are not allowed to and are not advertising this amber product for babies under 36 months old). Can my child wear the necklace while sleeping?It is recommended to only wear the necklace and bracelet under direct supervision. Amber works when it is in contact with the skin so you can still use the necklace at night as an anklet or at the bottom of their sock as they sleep. Can my child wear the necklace and bracelet in the bath?Yes you can, but prolonged exposure to water can weaken the thread of the necklace. Can an amber necklace be worn together with other amber items?Yes it can, your child can wear any number of child amber items such as those we sell at the same time and in fact the more amber that is worn the stronger the effect. Baltic amber is the fossilized resin of ancient pine trees that grew 40-60 million years ago in Northern Europe around the Baltic sea. As the prehistoric climate warmed the trees started exuding large amounts of resin. Over the millions of years, the resin oxidized forming the amber that we know today.
