Double cone Sturmey Archer gearbox bearing.
Dimensions
1.3/16" id x 2.1/8" od x 7/8"-15/16" approx wide.
We used to recondition these for customers
and we usually did six or seven each year.
One of the cones wears more than the other
and often has to be re-made.
But now, by ordering a batch of ten new bearings
we have managed to get a reasonable price
for brand new bearings to be manufactured.
We have these made to order in the UK,
and over the last 35 years we have sold
many hundreds of top quality bearings.
NB. There is a smaller version of this bearing.
It is quite rare, and we have only ever seen 3 examples.
