The Manor – Isaac Bashevis Singer (1st Printing, 1967)
“The Manor” is Isaac Bashevis Singer’s critically acclaimed,
best-selling and bold tale of Polish Jews in the latter half of the 19th
century, a time of rapid industrial growth and radical social change that
enabled the Jewish community to move from the ghetto to prominence within
Polish society. “The Manor” is not so much a family novel as the story of an
epoch, detailing the conflicts and ideas that gave birth to the modern era.
