US Coast Guard in World War Two

This is a nice reproduction of an original World War Two photo showing a US Coast Guard crewman playing with a lion cub at the USCG station at Toms Harbor, New Jersey.  I do not know the story behind the lion cub, probably a mascot?  The US Coast Guard participated in a variety of roles during the war, from coastal patrol, convoy escort, and operating smaller boats and landing craft.  Great photo!
