Ceramic bearing, Oil and Thrust Pad

CERAMIC BEARING

This is a Hi Performance Turntable Ceramic Bearings

Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) & Zirconium Dioxide (ZRo2)

The ceramic is harder than ruby and sapphire, and much harder than any steel or quartz. The hardness of ceramic is surpassed only by diamond.

This ceramic bearings hare a great upgrade from the standard stainless steel ball bearings and other tipes of ceramic bearings

They are non-magnetic, electrically insulating and have a very low thermal expansion.

So are used in high performance equipment, particularly in professional sports equipments (bikes, skates, roller blades, etc.) and even in the space industry.

It is scientifically proved that ceramic bearings far outweigh the steel bearings, reducing friction in 8-10 times.

This is a great improvement for increasing the performance of your turntable.

Reducing friction also reduces the vibrations and noise

TURNTABLE SPINDLE BEARING OIL

PRECISION TURNTABLE OIL

NOT JUST ANY OIL WILL DO

Lubricating a turntable may seem simple, but choosing the correct oil is critical. It should never be treated as a job for just any general-purpose lubricant.

Turntable motors, shafts and bearing systems are precision mechanisms designed to operate with lubricants having specific viscosity, stability and chemical characteristics.

Using an unsuitable oil can result in poor lubrication, alter bearing performance, increase friction and, over time, contribute to unnecessary wear or damage.

WHY IS THE CORRECT OIL SO IMPORTANT?

Many turntables use sintered bronze bushes and bearings. These porous materials can absorb and retain oil within their microscopic pores.

For this reason, lubricant selection is particularly important.

An oil intended for this type of application should provide the appropriate:

Viscosity – suitable for allowing the shaft to rotate freely while maintaining a stable lubricating film.
• Chemical stability – helping the lubricant maintain its properties over time.
• Compatibility with metals and alloys – particularly important for bronze, brass and other bearing materials.
• Compatibility with sintered bronze – avoiding oils or additives that may adversely affect the porous material or interfere with the lubricant originally impregnated into the bearing.
• Low tendency to form deposits or residues – essential in precision mechanisms.
• Long-term stability – helping prevent the oil from becoming gummy or losing its lubricating properties.

NOT JUST A GENERAL-PURPOSE MACHINE OIL

Universal engine or gearbox oils, sewing-machine oils and other household lubricants are not necessarily suitable for turntables.

Using an oil with the wrong viscosity or an unsuitable chemical formulation can affect bearing performance and, in some cases, may compromise components designed to operate with a specific type of lubricant.

In a precision turntable, the lubricant is part of the mechanical system.

The correct choice should therefore take into account the type of bearing, the materials used and the operating characteristics of the turntable.

FOR TURNTABLE MAINTENANCE & RESTORATION

This oil has been developed with more than 40 years of experience in mind, specifically considering the requirements of the precision mechanisms found in turntables. It is particularly suitable for maintenance, restoration and long-term preservation of vintage and modern turntable mechanisms.

A small amount, applied correctly and to the appropriate lubrication point, can make a significant difference to the smoothness, performance and longevity of the mechanism.

Don’t risk an expensive precision component by using an unsuitable lubricant.

Your turntable deserves the right oil — not simply whatever oil happens to be available, or the cheapest alternative.

All you need is a couple of drops, and the performance will be solid from now on.

PTFE (Teflon) Thrust Pad

  • One PTFE thrust pad (White) of 1 mm thick.
  • One PTFE impregnated with 30% graphite thrust pad 1mm thick
  • One Nylatron (Graphite-impregnated polyamide 30%) thrust pad 1mm thick.

You choose which combination you like best. In this kit you have the best to reduce friction and provide regular speeds, without fluctuations.

The use of the ceramic ball with this thrust pads reduces friction, vibration and noise.

To be sure of the benefit of this Upgrade Kit, do the following test:

Before applying the Upgrade Kit

- Remove the brake from the platter

- Run at 33 rpm

- Turn off the turntable and note how long it takes to stop turning.

After applying the Upgrade Kit

- Repeat the previous process and ... note how long it takes to stop rotating.
