Dot Brown, a 6th or 7th generation Florida Cracker. The daughter of a Florida cow hand and the granddaughter of a pioneer who was fishing Lake Okeechobee in 1909, she calls Glades County, Florida "home" to this day. She is a graduate of Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, NC. During her checkered past, she worked at Warrington Bank; a construction and utility company; WSRE-TV; and the Pensacola News Journal, where she originated the "Family Quest" column, which was devoted to genealogy. A collection from her "Dotted Eyes" columns was published by the Pensacola Press Club under the title, Cracker Crumb Trail. Now retired and living in Foley, Alabama, Dot is a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Ensley Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She is a Life Member of the West Florida Genealogical Society and co-founder of the Baldwin County Genealogical Society, where she plays an active role in helping build a genealogical collection in the Foley Public Library. She is the proud mother of a son and daughter and has one grandson. She is an avid Florida State University Seminole fan.
