The prominent "D" stamp under the serial number indicates that this rear sight was manufactured or refitted by the BSA Shirley factory in Birmingham, England.

The symbol that looks like a three-pronged arrow pointing upward (located just across from the "J3" stamp) is the traditional British and Commonwealth Broad Arrow (or "Pheon").

• Significance: This mark was applied across all British Empire forces to indicate that an item was official government or military property.

• The Lithgow Twist: While it looks like a standard British arrow, its placement alongside the Navy "N" and the "Lithgow Star" base stamp confirms this piece was formally accepted into official Australian military inventory.

Between the BSA "D" stamp, the Enfield inspector code, the Broad Arrow, and the Royal Australian Navy "N", this single rear sight completely traces its journey from a British wartime factory all the way to Australian naval service.
