A set of five antique hand blown crystal ice plates. Used in Victorian and Edwardian times to serve ice cream and sorbets. I am not certain of the exact age but I would put them as late Victorian or Edwardian. Hand blown with hand cut starburst to the base. Diameter approx. 17cm and height approx. 2cm.
Excellent condition for their age, very little ware. One has a smooth flea bite which is hardly noticeable. This was probably where a chip has been ground out in the past. One has a cluster of 4 or 5 cutting wheel marks on the back near the star pattern, each is about 2 to 3mm long. These are shown on the last picture in the centre of the image. You have to look quite hard to see them and I believe that they have been there since manufacture.
I have a set of three slightly different ice plates listed, slightly shallower with a larger starburst. However, they are the same diameter as these if you would like a harlequin set of eight. Please note there are only five in this lot, the picture with eight has been included for illustration only.
